The airbag unit (gas generator, airbag) is located in the steering wheel on the driver's side and behind a panel on the dashboard, above the glove compartment, on the passenger's side.

The airbag is triggered by the force of deceleration along the longitudinal axis. Under normal conditions triggering only occurs with a frontal impact. The airbag units in the steering wheel and dashboard can be replaced.
