Tamiya's 1:48 Tiger I is a superb little kit, and now to complement it, Skybow have released two kits of different versions of this classic piece of German armour themselves. Both Early and Late Production versions have been depicted, the main differences of course being the rubber tyres on the Early, and steel roadwheels and zimmerit on the late. Both kits are moulded in mid-green styrene, perhaps not the most appealing of colours, but the exquisitely delicate mouldings more than make up for this. On the late version, the zimmerit is moulded on to the hull and turret sides, and completely unlike [ previous manufacturers efforts with this irregular, hand applied texture, it is extremely realistic, proving that it can be done 'in the mould' without looking clumsy and too uniform as has been the case in the past.Tracks come as very refined, one-piece, soft vinyl mouldings that if glued down to the roadwheel tops will look excellent. VERDICT; Both kits are extremely finely detailed and well moulded, and will build up into extremely fine representations of this most famous German WW2 tank.
