For body repairs the only type of gas-arc welding acceptable is the MIG method (Metal Inert Gas) with carbon dioxide (CO^) or mixed gases, e.g. corgon (argon, CO^, 0^). Good welding is possible with these types of gases. Mixed gases increase the welding speed andtheseams remain ductile.

- Clean as much of the area to be welded as possible. Optimum welding results require that the equipment be adjusted correctly.
- Check adjustment by listening if the arc has a steady crackling or hissing sound.
- Hold the torch at angle as shown and as close as possible to the metal. Push the torch along the seam to be welded.
