2. To install new mirror, a new reinforcement, Part No. 477 831 139 left or 477 831 140 right, must be positioned according to dimensions so that new mirror base will cover existing screw holes.

3. Cut out trim panel of driver's door at position shown in illustration and install switch with two metal screws and nuts.

1. When service installing an electric outside mirror on doors of cars before 1978 model, drill out spot welds and remove reinforcement for standard mirror.

A threaded insert, Part No. 477 831 145, and clamping sleeve, Part No. N 13.295.1, have to be installed for this reinforcement.

This reinforcement can be MIG welded and/or fastened to door outside panel with pop rivets at drilled off areas.

5. Installation of two electric outside mirrors will require a switch in the center console. Also make sure that the correct mirror housing (different cam locking position) is used on passenger's door.

6. Connect electric wires according to additional wiring diagram.

4. Open up holes in door and hinge pillar to 30 mm diameter, in which the rubber seal is installed, to pull wire harness through.

Plugs for wire harnesses are located in cavities ahead of hinge pillars. Wire harness is routed upward from this point to the fuse box and instrument panel. This requires unscrewing the hood release handle and partially removing the carpets.

6. Glue plastic sheet, install and adjust inside door release handle.

7. Install door trim panel.

8. Install window control switches on driver's door so that forward switch operates window of driver's door. Also install all switches so that each window will close when push button switches are pressed up. The opening (for removal) of clips on push button switches should be installed facing down.
