Welded bolts are used in cars since October 1, 1981. These welded bolts permit the fastening of plastic mounts for wire straps, fuel lines, brake lines, etc.. The metal tabs, on which the plastic mounts were formerly fastened, have been omitted.

Damaged or missing welded bolts can be replaced by application of blind riveting methods. These methods could also be applied for new routing of lines.
A spacer sleeve must be used to avoid damaging the threads while riveting. This spacer sleeve transmits forces up to the point of the rivet pin shearing off.
Rivets are available in different lengths with a spacer sleeve as a repair kit.
