Transmission

The 924 turbo 5-speed has several modifications.

The ratio for the final drive, and the ratios for all of the gears except 5th have been changed. Comparison — 5-speed transmissions:

Additional modifications:

Gear Shaft Connection

1 — Reinforced input shaft — for connection to 25 mm dia. drive shaft.

2 — Seal for input shaft, new — adapted to changed shaft dia.

4 — Cyl. roller bearings new — ID changed, OD as before.

6 — Spacing sleeve between 2nd and 3rd gear shorter — now same part as spacing sleeve on pinion shaft (part "A" between 4th and 5th gear).

7 — Ball bearing for pinion shaft — reinforced.

8 — Clamping plates for pinion shaft and input shaft split version — clamping plate for input shaft from transmission model 915; clamping plate for pinion shaft new.

9 — Spacing wasner between cyl. roller bearing and 1st gear 5,8 mm thick — formerly 4 mm.

10 — 1 st gear new; synchronized with locking ring, guide sleeve and shift fork (1st gear/reverse) new. Reverse — idler gear new, with longer shaft.

Front transmission cover and gear carrier parts for normal 924 and turbo are made from the same casting, but machined differently.
